PEMBERDAYAAN MASYARAKAT MELALUI EDUKASI DAN PRAKTIK PENGELOLAAN SAMPAH RUMAH TANGGA DI DESA PLOSO, KABUPATEN NGANJUK

Abstract

This community service activity aims to raise public awareness regarding environmental health through outreach and practical demonstrations of household waste management in Ploso Village, Nganjuk Regency. The initiative was prompted by the community's currently low level of awareness and skill regarding household waste management specifically the sorting of organic and inorganic waste which poses risks of environmental pollution and health issues. The implementation method involved problem identification, educational outreach on waste management, hands-on waste sorting practice, and evaluation via observation and questionnaires. The results indicate an improvement in the community's understanding and skills in identifying, sorting, and managing household waste more effectively. The discussion highlights that combining education with hands-on practice provides a more concrete learning experience, thereby fostering greater awareness, participation, and concern for environmental cleanliness among residents. Consequently, this activity serves as a starting point for encouraging better waste management practices at the household level. Sustaining the program requires periodic guidance, strengthened community participation, and support from the village government to establish a consistent and sustainable waste management system.
